This FREE seminar meets the requirements of FAR 65.93 (a) (4) as 8 hours of approved IA renewaltraining.

While this seminar is structured for Mechanics with Inspection Authorization (IA‘s), it is open to any interested mechanic.

Teterboro Airport – Friends and Family Day

TEB’s first ever Friends and Family Day will be taking place this coming Saturday October 7th between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm at Hangar 1 (111 Industrial Ave.). The event is rain or shine although right now the forecast looks good with partly cloudy skies and a high of 81 degrees. Below are some details on the event:

Parking

 

General parking for guests will be available at the Airport Administration Building at 90 Moonachie Ave. A shuttle bus will transport guests from the parking area to Hangar 1. The shuttle will run at 15 minute intervals between 11:45 am (first run from 90 Moonachie) and 3:30 pm (last run from Hangar 1).

 

Drop-off/Pick-up

 

FBOs and others transporting guests to Hangar 1 can drop off and pick-up at the parking lot entrance to Hangar 1 located on Industrial Ave. We ask that shuttle buses access the Hangar via landside only.

 

Aviation Hall of Fame Open Cockpit Weekend

 

The NJAHOF will be conducting their Open Cockpit Weekend at the museum this Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pmOn Saturday, anyone with a Teterboro Airport ID can attend the event free of charge.

The display includes a very rare Lockheed Bushmaster, a Convair 880 circa 1958, a M*A*S*H Bell helicopter, a Coast Guard Helicopter, an OV-1 Mohawk observation plane, a Walter Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Truck and a Cobra Gunship Helicopter. Additionally, the world’s only surviving Martin 202 airliner is on display but only the cabin is open. This aircraft was operated by TWA beginning in 1950.V

People, young and old can learn how the flight systems work. Qualified pilots will help guests understand the instruments and controls of these special aircraft.

Guy Leida, 84, of Bloomingdale, passed away on July 5, 2017.

Born in Washington, NJ, Guy was raised in Fair Lawn.  He proudly served in the US Air Force and later had a long career as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor.  Guy was a member of PAMA and won several aviation awards, and he also volunteered as an usher at St. Mary’s Church and a Eucharistic Minister at Chilton Memorial Hospital.

Guy had a love of traveling and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, collecting antique cars, and rebuilding clocks.  He was best known for his storytelling and jokes and was a loving husband, father, brother, and “Bumpy” to his grandchildren.

Guy is survived by his wife, Gracemarie (Suzy); his son, Guy; his daughters, Linda Goldsmith, Sandra Chaplin and her husband Dennis; and Carol Johnson and her husband Stuart; his brother, A. James Leida and his wife Laurie; his grandchildren, David Chaplin, Corinne Chaplin, and Olivia Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his grandchildren, Eugene and Tristan Daley.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 10 from 4 to 8 pm at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.  A funeral Mass will be held 11 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s RC Church, Pompton Lakes.  Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Guy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated by his family.
