  • CAE SimuFlite
  • AVIALL
  • API
  • Standard Aero

We have put together a program that will cover topics of interest to both the reciprocating and turbine Mechanic / IA. There will be a Mini Trade Show through out the day and during the lunch break. This Refresher/Renewal meets the requirements of FAR 65.93 (a) (4) for IA renewal. There will be NO other renewal meeting other than this being held in the area by the FAA.

At our March22 meeting, the very prestigious Teterboro Pama Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Leonard Levy. Len’s three daughters were in attendance to see him accept the award. Len is truly the man behind the curtain, making sure things go smoothly at all of the chapters events.

Congratulations Len!

A&P Plastic Licenses mandated by March 2013

This was passed along by Bill Bauer of Dassault Falcon Technical Support :

I just returned from an AMT meeting in Houston and thought I would send out this reminder concerning A&P licenses and Pilot licenses… I was reminded of this by the local FAA… so in case you have not already done so…

Certified airframe and powerplant mechanics are required to upgrade to a new “plastic” certificate or lose their A&P privileges. The regulation went into effect on March 31 last year with little fanfare, leaving most mechanics in the dark. An FAA spokesman said, “Except for temporary certificates issued under §65.13, the holder of a paper certificate may not exercise the privileges of that certificate after March 31, 2013.” Application can be made at the FAA’s registry Web site for a $2.00 fee. Stay in touch with your FAAST Representative, FSDO or ASI for the most current information.

FAA seeks to Restrict A&P Recognition – Deadline Extended

The FAA has issued a policy which is intended to clarify the definition of ”Actively Engaged” for purposes of issuing and renewing the A & P Inspector Authorization.

This FAA action proposes to clarify the term ”actively engaged” for the purposes of application for and renewal of an inspection authorization, as contained in Flight Standards Management System Order 8900.1.

For more information Click Here for the AEA’s Website or Here to see the docket.

UPDATE : DEADLINE EXTENDED ( January 17th ):
Legislative Alert - FAA to Adjust Definition of ''Actively Engaged'' for Inspection Authorization
Join the ongoing discussion in the PAMA Legislative Issues Forum to discuss what you think of the proposed regulations and what suggestions PAMA should make to lawmakers before the new rules take effect.
